CMUQ Hosts Career Talk

Doha, Date, 2007. iHorizons, Qatar’s leading Business Process Solution (BPR) and software development company will be lending their expertise to students at Carnegie Mellon University (CMUQ) on 2nd September as a guest speaker in the “Making the Connection” lecture series, aimed at preparing students for entering the real world business environment.

Mr. Moayed Dib, Country Manager of iHorizons, Jordan will be talking to students on the theme “Making the transition from student to working professional: the challenges and expectations”, discussing what a graduate might expect from entering a professional working environment, such as iHorizons. Students will also learn about the different jobs they could expect at iHorizons, as a graduate in one of the region’s most successful IT businesses.

Moayed says “The classroom is very different to the real world, and we want to help prepare students for life as graduates. I want to paint a realistic picture about what they are likely to experience as they move from university to the workforce and tell them about the jobs that are available to them, with their skills and experience gained through study.”

The lecture series form part of CMUQ’s Internships Programme: Connections, which focuses on preparing students for employment in business by providing them with internship opportunities within leading companies in Qatar, such as iHorizons, who have already supported the programme by providing two students with the opportunity to complete summer internships in their Qatar offices.

Mr. Khalid Kalaweh, Country Manager of iHorizons Qatar says “iHorizons mission is to be the IT leader in the region, by promoting local capabilities and investing in research and development and we feel CMUQ’s focus on promoting and developing students goes hand in hand with what we’re trying to achieve. We are very proud to be lending our knowledge and skills to these students, who will be the next generation of Qatar’s business leaders, the driving forces and CEO’s of tomorrow.”

iHorizons follows a long line of other influential companies in Qatar such as the Ministry of Finance and Qatar Petroleum who have previously provided inspirational figureheads to talk to students about making the transition from classroom to boardroom and of the hurdles and milestones they should expect to pass on the way.

I would rather hear to learn "how to start a startup" if I was the student at CMUQ.
